Bangladesh Backlash

In the wake of last week's tragic collapse of a Bangladesh clothing factory, where the death toll is 547 and climbing, Disney announced they're pulling the manufacturing of any of their items from that country, while Wal-Mart and JC Penney say they're going to talk about what can be done to shore up safety there. Today on America Weekend, I talked with Dr. Cory Krupp of Duke University's Sanford School of Public Policy about what those companies can do to change an industry where the workers make $37/month and profits come before safety. As she pointed out, if companies leave Bangladesh, they'll just move to other countries where the same problems exist (e.g. Vietnam).
