Start School Later

A couple of weeks ago, Education Secretary Arne Duncan tweeted "let teens sleep more, start school later." Parents and teenagers all across America can relate, because we all know how bad that time of the day is for concentrating and learning, particularly when you haven't had enough rest.

On my America Weekend show, I spoke with Merry Eisner-Heidorn, legislative director for the Start School Later advocacy group. We talked about the science behind why the change would help, the results in school districts that have moved back the start of their day, and the effect on after-school sports and part-time jobs.
