Several years ago, after my daughter complained that my wife was going to bed before midnight on New Year's Eve, my wife said, "The next year will arrive whether I'm awake or not." Fast forward to last night, when all three of us were in bed before 2016 ended -- we even missed the Leap Second. Remarkably, 2017 came anyway.
